Weekly Bulletin 26th May 2023
Headteacher’s Message
This week in school work has begun upgrading the Reception outdoor area and I am grateful to parents who have been able to support with this. If you are able to help in any way then please do contact the school office. I am also grateful to FOSS for arranging our school disco last week and enabling money to be raised for school in a fun way. My thanks go to parents who attended our KS2 Internet Safety Assembly. The children who presented provided us with lots of ways to stay safe. As a follow-up to the assembly I have provided a link to some further advice regarding the use of monitoring apps and have shared this below.
Each week I want to include a ‘snapshot’ of some of the things going on in school. For example, news from our ECO team, Worship group, V.I.P. (Very International People) and SNAG (School Nutrition Action Group). This week our focus is on the work of FOSS and an update is shared below.
I wish you all a restful and enjoyable half term break and look forward to welcoming you back for the final half term of this academic year on Tuesday 6th June.
Best wishes
Mr Rumbles

Summer Discos
We had the infant and junior discos last Friday, 19th May, and it was great to see so many of our pupils having a great time and we raised a fantastic £300.
News of the fun the infants were having at their disco even reached our local wildlife, with a bat turning up for a dance. The juniors were in charge of the playlist at their disco requesting classics such as the Backstreet Boys and Barbie Girl.
Summer Fair
The summer fair will be held on Saturday 8th July. It will be a great day including an inflatable slide, face painting, games and prizes to be won. We hope to see you all there.
Volunteers
FOSS is made up of a group of parents who volunteer time to help with the events. We really would love some new members to join our group, any help is hugely appreciated. You don’t have to help at every event, any time at all that you can offer, would be a huge help. If you would like to help, we would love to hear from you. Please speak to school or an existing member of FOSS.
PE
The children are required to wear their PE kit on the day they have PE. Please note: there may be ad-hoc PE days for which you will be informed via letter or SMS text message. Please see class PE days for the Summer Term 2 below:

Internet Safety – Further Parent advice
With children accessing the internet on a range of devices, the job of protecting them from things they may not be ready for online can be a challenge. In recent years, a wide variety of monitoring software solutions have appeared to allow you to see what children are doing online and set digital boundaries.
If you click on link below it will take you to advice from Thinking Matters about the different apps that are available to parents. There is also a video link with tips on how best to use the apps.

Christian Values
We are exploring the value of thankfulness and worship will be led by Mr Rumbles, Mrs Matthews, Fr. Bill, Fr. Peter and the pupils.
Some further information about this half term’s value:
This half term we are focussing on Thankfulness as our whole school Christian Value. We will be looking at why being thankful is important and discussing what the children are thankful for in their lives.
Some things to think about:
- How can we express our appreciation and thankfulness in the life of the school?
- How can we demonstrate that we see the good things of life as a blessing and a gift rather than a right?
- How can we be thankful for more than just material possessions?
